Italian Regions: Friuli Venezia Giulia

Friuli Venezia Giulia is a northeastern region bordering Austria, Slovenia and the Adriatic Sea. Home to the Dolomites, this area is famous for producing outstanding white wines. Trieste, the capital, was once part of the 19th-century Austro-Hungarian Empire. You can find an enormous range of dishes in the local cuisine thanks to the different neighboring influences, from hearty Gulash Triestino to Capesante Gratinate.
